The Dolly Way™

Horse Welfare in Action

Our Core Purpose

In the horse world, ethical care can be overlooked or undervalued.

Practitioners and owners who prioritise understanding, safety, and horse welfare can feel marginalised,

pressured to conform, or dismissed as “too soft.”

The Dolly Way™ exists to change that.

It is a
foundation for professionals who work ethically, prioritise horse welfare, and support each other.

Our goal is to make trust-based, kind, and skilled horsemanship visible and respected.

Why This Collaboration Exists

This is not a club, a marketing tool, or a label, it is a Purpose-Driven Foundation

A
values-led collaboration, structured under Dolly Communication CIC, created to make ethical, trust-based horsemanship visible, supported, and respected.

By working together, we protect horses, empower professionals, and demonstrate that horse welfare, safety, and integrity are the foundation of serious equestrian practice — not optional extras.:

  • Gives the public access to trusted, ethical professionals.

  • Supports practitioners who want to uphold high welfare standards without fear of marginalisation.

  • Shows that ethical, trust-based horse work is legitimate, skilled, and serious.

  • Demonstrates that ethical practice can be profitable, recognised, and sustainable.

Our Principles

All members work under three guiding principles:

  1. Connection, not control – building relationships based on trust.

  2. Partnership, not dominance – respecting the horse as an individual.

  3. Trust, not fear – creating safe environments for horse and human.

These principles underpin everything The Dolly Way™ does — from our Code of Ethics to our community practices.

Visibility, Protection, and Trust

Not all exposure is safe. Some professional choices carry risk.

The Dolly Way™ protects its members while maintaining transparency:

  • Full profiles are website member-only.

  • A public directory shows basic information to support informed choice.

  • Access is designed to keep professionals safe, recognising the emotional and commercial pressures they may face.

This is safeguarding by design — ethical practice, visibility, and protection coexisting.

Join Us — Founding Members of The Dolly Way™

We are inviting a small group of founding members to help establish a strong, values-led foundation for The Dolly Way™.

This is an opportunity to shape a platform where ethical practice, trust, and horse welfare are visible, supported, and protected.

Membership is by application only and is open to professionals committed to the Code of Ethics. We are looking for those who:

  • Put horse welfare first, always
  • Work with honesty, kindness, and safety
  • Collaborate respectfully with like-minded professionals
  • Uphold the standards of ethical practice even when it’s challenging

Being a founding member is not about status, promotion, or personal recognition. It’s about being part of a serious, professional network that demonstrates the power of collective care.

Once this initial group is established, membership will transition to an annual subscription model to continue supporting the growth and sustainability of the foundation.

Your influence matters only if it’s rooted in ethical practice and genuine commitment — this is a network where horses come first, and professionals support one another.

A Note on Support and Collaboration

The Dolly Way™ encourages members to share knowledge, mentor, and support each other.

Professionals are not expected to compete for clients within the foundation.

Collaboration strengthens ethical standards, confidence, and credibility across the community.

All concerns reported are handled confidentially, upholding the Code of Ethics and supporting both horses and humans.

Code of Ethics

 1. Horse First, Always

I prioritise the physical, emotional, and behavioural wellbeing of the horse over results, expectations, or traditions.
I do not use, condone, or remain silent about training methods that rely on fear, force, pain, or learned helplessness.

 2. Honest Practice

I represent my skills, qualifications, and experience truthfully.
I do not claim titles, results, or specialisms I haven’t earned.
I clearly communicate what I can offer and refer on when something is beyond my scope.

3. Kindness Is Non-Negotiable

I treat horses and humans with respect, even when opinions differ.
I do not shame owners or professionals — I offer education, compassion, and clarity instead.

 4. Ongoing Learning

I stay informed and open to new understanding in welfare, ethics, and communication.
I seek out credible learning opportunities and do not stop questioning what I was taught — especially if it puts the horse second.

 5. Safety With Integrity

I recognise that safety is not a compromise to ethics — it is part of them.
Protecting a horse or human from harm is an act of trust, not control.
I take proactive, informed steps to ensure the physical and emotional safety of everyone involved, including myself.
I intervene calmly and appropriately when risk arises, knowing that clear, confident action prevents fear-based escalation.
I carry appropriate insurance and work within the boundaries of my training.

 6. Responsibility Within Role

If I become aware of harm or distress caused to a horse in my professional setting, I aim to offer education and support to the owner or carer, when safe and appropriate.
I do not confront or criticise others outside my role, unless I feel it is safe and necessary to do so.
I understand that long-term change comes through trust, not conflict.

Handling Reported Concerns

Any concerns reported within The Dolly Way™ are reviewed confidentially by the foundation team.
All investigations respect privacy, uphold the Code of Ethics, and aim to support the horse and all humans involved while protecting the integrity of our community.

 7. Dolly Values: Courage, Clarity, Compassion

I support others in walking the quiet, often unseen, path of ethical horse care.
I stand beside fellow professionals facing judgement or financial loss for doing what’s right.
I know we are stronger together — and that horses need us united.
