The Attitude of Gratitude
When you are Grateful for what you have,
You do not focus on your lack.
This makes you a much more positive person.
I am grateful every day that I had Dolly in my life
and for everything she has taught me.
Without gratitude life has no meaning.
Gratitude changes your perspective from one of lack and need to one of joy and thankfulness.
This is such a boost for your well being, and makes you a more relaxed person for your horse to be around..
Writing down 3 things a day that you are grateful for will really change the way you feel about your life.
This doesn't cure anything but it makes every day a happier place.
Gratitude can be for something big or small.
What matters is that you say "Thank you , Thank you, Thank you." from your heart.

Why It Matters for Your Horse
When you arrive at the yard in a bad mood, distracted, stressed, rushed, or even feeling guilty, your horse feels it. They might not know what you're thinking, but they sense your emotional state through your posture, energy, and breathing.
Horses live in the moment. They rely on non-verbal signals to determine if their environment is safe. If you walk in carrying frustration or fear, your horse may mirror that energy—becoming tense, reactive, or withdrawn. They’re not being “difficult”—they’re responding honestly to the energy you bring.
Practising gratitude, even for small things, helps shift your nervous system into a calmer state. You become easier to trust, easier to follow, and easier to be around. Your horse doesn't need you to be perfect. They just need you to be present and steady.
Feeling gratitude instead of lack and need is also really good for you and your mental health.
If your horse is nervous around you, because are nervous and tense, Learn from them. Gratitude for the small things brings positive energy into your heart.
A Gentle Reflection
When you arrive at the yard try writing down three things you're grateful for,
really feel the love in your heart for those things.
Notice how your horse responds and note that down before you leave the yard.
Journalling how you change and any change in your horse is a brilliant tool to look back on,
and allows you to see the differences that occcur.

Through my empowerment coaching, I help you reconnect with your inner calm and shift your perspective through simple, powerful mindset tools like gratitude. You’ll learn how your emotional energy directly impacts your horse, and how cultivating thankfulness creates a steadier, safer space for them — and for you.
Whether you're struggling with anxiety, people-pleasing, or emotional burnout, together we’ll build habits that lift you out of lack and help you reconnect with joy, presence, and purpose. Gratitude is one of those habits — and it's life-changing.
